updates on the twins....from Ashley

Hey everyone- thank you so much for all of your thoughts, prayers and visits over the last couple of days. It seems weird to say days because it seems like weeks. The babies are both doing really well:
Weston is still here in Bellingham with me. He got his IV taken out this morning (giving him glucose water) because he is up to 33 cc's of food, which is what our goal has been. He is breastfeeding some but they are still giving most of his food through a tube going through his nose down to his stomach. All of his numbers are great and have been since the first day. His breathing was only a little labored in the beginning, and he got over that within six hours, and he's been good ever since. He's still in the isolette (warmer), just so his body doesn't have to work so hard at staying warm. They are going to start weening him off of that within the next few days. The only thing we are watching with Weston is his billiruben for jaundice. The levels are climbing slightly, but it's nothing to be concerned about, he just might have to go under some lights for a few days.
Coleson is still in Everett with Nick. Rick and I got to go visit last night which was really great! He is doing so well and his numbers just get better and better. He is breathing at 21 ( the level of room air), so his ventilator is probably going to come out today! He is getting breastmilk through a tube too, which is just going to make him get bigger and stronger! They are thinking that he can probably come back to Bellingham and be with his brother by Saturday or Sunday, if everything continues to go well. We are so ready to be together again.
Ava and Carter are doing well... a little confused but they have been little troopers. Carter is mostly concerned about seeing mommy and daddy- he's wondering why we can't just come home with the babies, but he's starting to understand. Ava could care less about us, she is all about babies! She came to visit the other day, walked right past me and went straight to Weston!
I attached some pictures, you can tell the difference between the babies by the ventilator in Coleson's mouth, kinda hard to miss. The picture of Nick and I holding both babies was taken right before Coleson and Nick flew to Everett. It was the first time I got to hold Coleson and the first time the twins got to be together since they were in my belly! Anyways, I am going to be posting more pictures on our blog and hopefully updating on a regular basis... hopefully sometime today. The address is avacarter.blogspot.com. Alright, love you guys and talk to you soon.
