WE have been seeing an audiologist and ENT (ear, nose and throat) specialist for Kausten. WE noticed he was continually asking for the radio and TV to be turned up. So after another hearing test in October and a look in his ears, it was determined that his ear drums were very sucked in and floppy. The ENT felt that tubes were needed to release the pressure on his drums and to allow them to heal.
Off to Loma Linda we headed on the 29th of November. Not only is it an hour and 45 minute drive, but we had to leave at 0530. And thankfully we did. There was rain and horrible fog going through the mountain pass. I could not even see the front of the truck. Needless to say we made it there by 0745, got checked in, and the waiting began. They took the little little ones first, and then Kausten around 10. HE was in and out in about 20 minutes. I had just started getting into my book when they called me back. He slept for about 30 minutes and then got a Popsicle and juice. We were out of there at 1130 heading for lunch. I couldn't believe how well he did.
At lunch he was starving. He ate all 5 of the chicken strips and fries. And still had room for dessert. I was so proud of him. He only asked once for something to eat and that was around 0930 when the operating nurse came in to meet him. We got a good laugh when he told her he was hungry and she replied with me too. It seems no one in Kausten's operating room had eaten breakfast. =)
We had a wonderful day together. You didn't even notice he had the tubes placed. We got our Christmas tree and did a little shopping at Walmart while we waited for his prescription to be filled. Thank you Charice and the Adams family for watching Emmalyn and spoiling her rotten.
