a pirate dinner

Jeremy came up with a wonderful idea this year for Kausten's birthday.  He had been told about a pirate themed dinner on a ship and thought Kausten would love it.  So the planning began and the surprise was set.  All we told him was we were going to have a day of surprises.  We loaded up the truck around 10am and headed out towards Buena Vista Park.  WE knew we had a few stops along the way, but poor Kausten thought every stop was his surprise.  He was sorely disappointed when the first stop was the gas station.  We pulled in a said surprise and he looked at us with utter shock.  Followed by this is really my surprise...the gas station.   We just giggled and told him no.  The surprise was around dinner time.

WE did have a few errands in Victorville first, and one of the surprises was lunch at Panera Bread.  The kid loves broccoli cheese soup.  Next was Target to spend his birthday money from Grandma and Papa Pankratz.  He picked out a really cool Coast Guard Plane.  I am not sure who was more excited...him or Jeremy.

After Target it was time to check in at the pirate dinner.  HE was so excited til we got in and it was really loud.  Then he was ready to go home.  What is up with my kids and sensitive hearing.  Both kiddos walked around covering their ears until the preshow started.  Then they were all about the pirate show.  Both were a little unsure of the dark atomosphere of the actual theater.  And Emmalyn was not keen on the loud fighting or gun shots.  Regardless we all loved it and would go back again.

( pictures are not great because it was so dark, but you get the gist.)

Happy Birthday Kausten

he got to open one gift on his birthday.  Emmalyn gave him a new tag book

We were the orange pirate.  And we were lucky enough to have pirates sitting at our table.

we didn't pay for the whole birthday package, but our server was great and put a candle in Kausten's brownie.  He loved it.

They even got gold doubloons

We finished the night out at Bass Pro shop.  It is a win for everyone.  The kids love it and Jeremy can look and boats and dream.  =)
